Carpentier offers innovative cladding in knot-free, thermo oak. Give your projects a timeless finish thanks to the beauty and elegance of natural wood. Combined with the Grad® invisible installation system, you are guaranteed an impeccable result. As a professional, you can count on the tips and advice offered by our wood specialists.
Our thermo oak cladding is synonymous with simplicity and natural beauty. This timber cladding is made from PEFC certified oak that has been heat treated and thus is classed durability class I. In addition, our thermo oak is knot-free, resulting in a particularly attractive, uniform appearance. Our HOTwood oak cladding is available in a variety of ready-to-use profiles. You can opt for tongue and groove profiles or QuickClip© profiles combined with the Grad® smart installation system. Moreover, QuickClip® profiles ensure perfect alignment and invisible installation of both horizontal and vertical cladding.
Whatever profile you choose, our thermo oak cladding will give your façades and wooden outbuildings an elegant and timeless finish that will grow even more attractive over time. Indeed, as it ages, the deep brown of our HOTwood oak cladding will go naturally grey. This weathering process begins as soon as you have installed your cladding and can take anything from a few months to several years, depending on the degree to which the wood is exposed to UV light. This change in colour does not affect the durability of the cladding.
For those who don’t want to wait so long, but want pre-weathered cladding straight away, Carpentier has developed a unique process to turn wood grey and it can use this process on your thermo oak cladding. Pre-weathering is also a way of avoiding uneven natural weathering which can occur on roof overhangs or other parts less exposed to the sun and the rain. The wood grain will remain visible despite the treatment.
Would you prefer to keep the wood’s original colour? Then we recommend you treat your thermo oak cladding with an oil stain before installation. If you would like, we can oil the cladding in our workshop. For a natural look, we apply two coats to thermo oak: one coat of RMC Sunprimer HWP Look Ipé and one coat of RMC Hybrid Wood Protector Look Ipé. Other colours, including those most on-trend right now, are available of course. Please feel free to ask our advice.

There is currently a shortage of HOTwood ash, but since it is so similar in appearance and has many of the same characteristics, thermo oak is a great alternative.
Before you begin fitting cladding, we recommend you read the installation instructions carefully. You will find them in our downloads section, under “Manuals Cladding, Panelling and Ceiling”. You will also find a step-by-step guide for installing cladding around corners for some unique QuickClip® profiles.
The invisible, smart Grad® mounting system is a valuable additional feature in combination with thermo oak cladding. Using our QuickClip® profiles means you can get straight to work on site, since clips are pre-installed on the aluminium joists with the precise spacing required. All you have to do is click the timber cladding into place, thus substantially reducing installation time and costs.
Watch our tutorial and find out for yourself.
At Carpentier, all the accessories you need for fitting cladding are in stock and can be ordered at the same time. These include: waterproof membranes, battens and extra aluminium joists for finishing windowsills and door edges, and clip grips, etc.
When cladding is installed vertically, the effects of gravity could cause boards to slide. Glue is often used to ensure they remain in place. However, this means that our QuickClip® cladding loses its circular character. That’s why we recommend to use the Grad® clip grip. This handy tool locks the cladding boards firmly onto the aluminium rail, without stopping them from being easy to dismantle and keeping their circularity. One clip grip per board is enough to prevent any sliding.
QuickClip® cladding boards can easily be dismantled without damage using a set of dismantling keys. Dismantling boards can be really useful if work needs to be carried out behind the cladding, or if you want to smarten up the entire façade, or perhaps paint it a more on-trend colour.
