Carpentier - Smart wood for nice places

About us

History

A heart for wood

Carpentier has played an active part in the wood industry since 1958, when Willy Carpentier founded Willy Carpentier Houtindustrie. He followed in the footsteps of his father, who had been making wooden clothes pegs and washtubs for many years.

Today, this deep appreciation for wood and commitment to quality live on in the third generation of our family. Together with a team of wood experts, we work to develop consistently innovative products that represent sustainability, respect for the environment and pure craftsmanship.

Our mission

"Carpentier imports and processes sustainably-produced, stable wood for indoor and outdoor use. From rough sawn wood to finished and customised products. We set the bar high in terms of innovation and ecology, with a view to circular building solutions. Our focus on atmosphere and experience results in high-quality designs, and by using smart systems we guarantee they are quick and easy to install."

Leading player in the hardwood market

Carpentier sells more than 20,000m³ of European hardwood every year. This wood is distributed around the world, including to the Benelux countries, Germany, France, Switzerland, the UK, Poland, the Baltic states, Scandinavia and further afield.

Oak is a particular specialty for us. But we also focus on thermo ash and pine (known as HOTwood) and other sustainable wood varieties.

Over the years we have amassed a wealth of expertise in a range of sectors. Our customers include carpenters, timber merchants, interior design firms, patio designers, landscape gardeners, constructors of timber framed houses, contractors, renovators, kitchen manufacturers and more. We also have customers in the parquet, staircase and furniture industries.

Sustainable and circular

As one of the first Belgian businesses with PEFC and FSC® certification, Carpentier gives top priority to sustainable business practices and respect for the environment.

We take stringent measures to ensure that all of our wood is sourced from responsible and legal foresting, which is one of the reasons that we use mainly European wood varieties. In contrast to most tropical wood varieties, European wood comes from forests that have been managed for generations using careful, environmentally friendly methods.

We apply our ecological principles to every part of our production process and to the development of all our wood products. The Voka Charter Sustainable Entrepreneurship is the certificate that proves it.

Wood solutions with added value

As a company committed to innovation, Carpentier aims to create products that will bring added value to every project. Using our extensive range of modern equipment, we carry out every step of the production process in our own workshops. We can cut, saw, dry, heat-treat, fine-saw, plane, rip cut and brush wood and perform CNC machining. Altogether, this enables us to offer a full range of finished products including cladding, wall panelling, ceilings, decking, roof boards, wooden shutters, louvered pergolas, wooden outbuildings, wooden gates and fencing.

We try to make things easier for our customers whenever possible by offering post-treatments including charring, brushing, weathering, staining and oiling, and by making many products available in ready-to-use kits complete with assembly instructions. At our newest timber-frame construction departement, we even make complete construction kits with speed, circularity and ecology factored in as essential components.
