Kebony is made from FSC®-certified knot-free softwood (radiata pine), treated with a bio-based liquid (furfuryl alcohol) and exposed to heat in excess of 100 °C. The patented process permanently modifies the cell walls of the softwood, giving Kebony premium hardwood characteristics and a rich brown colour in two steps.
The result is excellent stability, maximum hardness and a guaranteed long lifespan. The wood has a smooth surface that can be processed further like hardwood — ideal for cladding and decking.
By choosing Kebony instead of tropical hardwood for a 10 m² terrace, you save almost two tonnes of CO₂. That is equivalent to 22 months of electricity consumption by an average European household.
Kebony comes from fast-growing softwood trees from sustainably managed forests that are ready to harvest after just 30 years. After the modification process, Kebony achieves durability class I.
Our Kebony decking boards are supplied with the FSC® certificate and come with a 30-year guarantee. This guarantee protects against wood rot and flaking. Apart from normal cleaning, Kebony requires no additional maintenance or treatment.
