Our barnwood is sourced from old wooden barns and is therefore perfectly attuned to the concept of cradle-to-cradle production processes. Carpentier offers both European and Canadian barnwood.
Our barnwood consists mostly of reclaimed pine that is about 200 years old and recovered from old barns in Europe and Canada. Carpentier transforms these indestructible boards into beautiful products such as cladding and panelling. Besides reclaimed pine, we also offer European oak barnwood.
The hardness and durability of these reclaimed boards makes them ideal for exterior projects, although they are also perfect for indoor finishing. Possibilities include kitchen panelling, floors, ceilings, doors, wood panelling above the hearth, shelving and more. Whether it is used in an interior or exterior project, barnwood lends a warm touch to any home or wooden outbuilding.
Carpentier supplies both European and Canadian barnwood. Each board is unique and authentic, with its own story to tell.
European barnwood appears in a range of grey, black and brown colourings, although Carpentier focuses mainly on grey tints when sourcing this wood.
Canadian barnwood tends to have a more even colour, with some boards occasionally showing more colour than others.
We offer an extensive selection of reclaimed boards. Besides barnwood, we can also supply other wood products with a beautifully aged patina.
In principle, our reclaimed wood is dried/air-dried to a moisture content of between 12% and 20%. We advise customers to orient old wood planks vertically, particularly in outdoor projects. If you have selected barnwood for ceiling or wall panelling, we recommend allowing the wood to acclimatise on site for at least one week.
