A good vapour control membrane is the basis of a healthy and energy-efficient timber frame building. On the inside of the insulation, it provides airtightness and keeps moisture out of the construction. At Carpentier you will find pro clima's humidity-variable vapour retarders in stock, together with the tapes and adhesives to make everything airtight.
In a timber frame structure, the vapour control membrane forms the airtight layer on the inside of the insulation. It keeps warm, humid indoor air out of the construction, protecting it against structural damage and mould.
pro clima's vapour retarders are humidity-variable: their sd-value ranges from 0.25 to more than 25 m. This moisture-controlled behaviour promotes maximum drying of the construction. You can use them in roofs, walls, ceilings and floors, in residential and commercial buildings and in all rooms, including kitchens and bathrooms.
A humidity-variable vapour control membrane adjusts its vapour tightness to the conditions. In winter it slows down vapour from the inside; in summer the construction can dry out towards the inside. This keeps the insulation and timber frame dry and healthy.
Both membranes work on the same humidity-variable principle and have the same sd-value and the same service life of at least 50 years. The difference lies in their strength and in the insulation you use.
Not sure which membrane best suits your build-up? We are happy to help you decide.
A vapour control membrane is only as good as its connections. Seal the overlaps with pro clima TESCON VANA and finish connections to concrete, masonry and timber components with ORCON F. This way you build one continuous airtight system.
