European larch (Larix decidua) grows in the mountainous regions of Central Europe and is the only European conifer that sheds its needles in autumn. The wood is known for its fine grain, pronounced colour variations and good strength properties. In practice, larch has long been used for applications such as roof boards, shingles, boat building and other outdoor uses where weather resistance matters.
For our range, we deliberately choose European larch from Austria, sourced from sustainably managed forests. This wood variety comes into its own particularly well in visible roof boards, but it also works wonderfully in cladding, outbuildings, canopies and pool houses.

Over time, larch weathers naturally to an elegant silver-grey tone. This makes the wood appealing for projects that are meant to age beautifully. Anyone wishing to preserve the original colour for longer can finish the wood with oil or stain. Brushing is also a fine option for bringing out the grain even more.
Larch is a resin-rich wood variety. At higher temperatures, resin can sometimes seep out — small resin particles or a slight resinous appearance are not unusual. With correct installation, sufficient drying and a suitable finish, you can help limit this effect. If you fix your larch wood mechanically, pre-drilling is advisable, especially at the board ends.
