Abodo® is a high-quality, thermally modified timber from fast-growing New Zealand plantations. It combines a natural appearance with outstanding technical performance and offers a sustainable, stable alternative to tropical hardwood — particularly suited to cladding, decking and interior applications.
Abodo is produced from FSC®-certified Radiata Pine sourced from responsibly managed plantation forests in New Zealand. Through a controlled heat treatment — without any chemical additives — the timber is thermally modified right through to the core. The result is a timber with high stability, natural resistance to moisture and a warm, uniform appearance.
Within the range we distinguish three lines, each with its own character and application:
Abodo combines the stability of thermally modified timber with a particularly calm, uniform appearance. It is a material that doesn't impose itself, yet instantly lends every project more class.
Abodo is made from fast-growing plantation timber and has a low CO₂ footprint. The modification process takes place entirely without chemical additives, making the timber fully recyclable and healthy for people and the environment. Abodo is FSC®-certified, has an EPD and is Red List Free.
Thanks to thermal modification, Abodo achieves outstanding resistance to moisture, fungi and insects. The timber remains dimensionally stable in widely varying conditions and shows minimal warping. Vulcan® cladding comes with a 25-year guarantee certificate and can be applied both horizontally and vertically.
End grain that isn't finished with an edge board is best treated with a wax oil to prevent end-grain splits and small cracks.
Not sure whether Abodo is the right wood variety for your project? We're happy to think along with you about application, finish and appearance. Would you like to see a colour or finish in person first? Then you're welcome to make an appointment at one of our showrooms.
