After winter, an untreated timber deck can turn green. We recommend giving your deck an annual maintenance treatment with Rubio Monocoat Exterior Wood Cleaner. This care product ensures optimal cleaning and is also suitable for removing green deposits or speckling on timber cladding. In occasional cases, this may be needed for people who live near a busy road with a lot of fine dust.
Spring is the ideal time for a maintenance treatment. Wood and finishes respond best to mild temperatures and dry conditions: not too cold, not too warm and not too damp. This gives you the best foundation for a beautiful and durable result.
After cleaning with RMC Exterior Wood Cleaner, you can refresh our oiled wood with one coat of RMC Hybrid Wood Protector. This unique maintenance oil dries quickly, does not stain and works very efficiently. After just one coat it already offers long-lasting protection and restores the colour. It is also an environmentally friendly product that contains 0% VOC. This means no harmful fumes are released during application. Ideal, therefore, for refreshing oiled wood that has become dull.
For our timber cladding finished with an opaque oil or stain, a treatment with one coat will be needed every 3 to 5 years, depending on the weather conditions and the chosen colour.
Step 1 – Cleaning
Simply clean the wood with RMC Exterior Wood Cleaner to remove any green deposits and dirt.
Step 2 – Treatment
Apply a new coat of RMC Hybrid Wood Protector in the desired colour. To enable a more intense colouring, you can pre-treat the wood after cleaning with RMC Sunprimer HWP.
To keep the appearance and protection of charred wood at their best, regular maintenance with a suitable sealer is essential. For this we recommend the matt black Wood Hydro Shield SSB. This water-based matt protector fixes the charred layer, fills the open pores of the charred wood and improves the water resistance and durability of the wood.
Before treatment, carefully remove any dust from the surface and apply the sealer with a soft-bristled brush or, preferably, by spraying. This way the delicate surface is not touched during treatment. The number of coats depends on the absorption capacity of the charred wood. For outdoor applications, it is strongly recommended to apply a second coat once the first coat is dry. Always follow the instructions for use.
