HOTwood stands for Heated Outdoor Timber. During thermal treatment without chemical additives, the pine is heated to at least 215 °C, with steam to limit cracking and splitting.
After this heat treatment, the thermo softwood is comparable to tropical hardwood of durability class I/II. The wood gains in dimensional stability and resistance to moisture and wood rot, and takes on an attractive warm colour that weathers to a beautifully even grey over time.

Our products in HOTwood softwood (pine) come with a 15-year guarantee. End grains that are not covered by an edge board should always be treated with a wax oil to prevent end-grain splits and cracks.
