Brushed wood

Sometimes the difference lies in the texture. Brushing the wood brings out the grain more prominently and gives the surface more relief, depth and vibrancy. The result feels more natural and gives each board a more distinctive character.

Benefits of brushed wood

  • The grain stands out more prominently
  • More relief, depth and tactility
  • Can be combined with oil or stain
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
  • Applicable to a variety of wood species
  • Enhances the effect of on-trend colours

Brushing wood

In our workshop we brush wood with precision, so that the natural grain becomes more clearly visible and the surface gains more depth. Depending on the desired effect, we work either finer or slightly more aggressively, from subtly tactile to pronouncedly rough.

We apply this technique to thermally modified wood, oak, poplar, douglas fir and larch, but also to our MDF panelling. To take this even further, we recently invested in a new machine that responds perfectly to the demand for fine-sawn and more tactile finishes, both indoors and outdoors.

Brushed wood with a colour finish

After brushing, we can finish the wood further with oil or stain. This combination enhances the effect of the texture even more, because the colour settles beautifully into the structure of the wood.

A fine example of this is our QuickClip® Plus line profile in HOTwood ash, brushed and finished with a sustainable black Rubio Monocoat oil. This black finish gives the wood an elegant, refined appearance while making the relief stand out even more.

On-trend colours on brushed wood

Brushed wood lends itself perfectly to colour finishes that go beyond black. Thanks to the open structure of the surface, colour nuances settle deeper and richer into the wood, giving each shade a little more character.

Our on-trend colours for indoors and outdoors work particularly well here. Think of warm browns, deep greens or soft greys that come to life even more beautifully through the wood structure. Brushed wood with colour is therefore especially interesting for cladding, wall panelling, wooden gates and other architectural accents.

Larch brushed and oiled in Wenge

A striking example of what brushing and colour can achieve together. Larch naturally has a vibrant grain and a warm colour — brushing brings out that structure even more strongly. Finished with Wenge oil, the wood takes on a deep, rich appearance that balances between brown and black.

The result is a finish with plenty of presence, which comes across particularly strongly both indoors and outdoors. Want to know which colour suits your wood variety and project best? We are happy to think it through with you.

Brushing wood lets the material speak more. The grain becomes more visible, the surface more tactile. It is a subtle intervention with a major visual effect.
