Aluminium substructures

Easy to use

Thanks to their excellent installation properties, the aluminium substructures for decking, fencing, cladding, ceiling and wall panelling save you 50% installation time when used with our QuickClip® profiles.

All clips are pre-mounted on the black-coated aluminium substructure, allowing quick work during installation. As a professional, you simply need to click the wooden QuickClip® decking boards or cladding profiles onto the substructure. The correct positioning of the clips on the substructure also ensures a perfect spacing between the boards straight away. In short: a simple, fast and smart system delivering a high-quality, seamless result that can be applied both horizontally and vertically, and remains perfectly suitable for curved or organic shapes too.

Why aluminium?

The advantage of an aluminium substructure is its perfect dimensional stability and rigidity over the entire length, as well as its lifelong durability.
Nowadays our aluminium substructure is always black-coated to avoid sun reflection and to stand out less between the boards

Good to know

The aluminium rails come with a black coating (RAL 9005) to create a dark background for gaps of up to 10 mm. For profiles with gaps larger than 10 mm, we recommend having the aluminium rails anodised. Depending on the situation, the colour may lighten, so there is no guarantee that the rails will remain black over time. In addition, the paint layer on the rails may become damaged during transport and handling. With larger gaps, it may therefore be desirable to repair any minor damage to the black paint. This can be done very easily, but is the responsibility of the client or installer.

With vertically installed cladding, there is a risk that the boards slide along the clips due to gravity and the weight of the boards. To keep the boards neatly in place, glue is often used. However, this causes our QuickClip® cladding to lose its circular character. That is why we offer a clip grip that fits perfectly around the Grad® clip and prevents the cladding from sliding.

For applications with curved or rounded shapes, a flexible aluminium rail is available: the Grad® mini rail. This rail can be bent by hand to a radius of 500 mm, making it possible to finish complex shapes such as rounded corners, wavy lines or organic structures neatly and efficiently.
Thanks to its low height of just 6 mm, the mini rail is also ideal for façade and wall applications with a thinner build-up. The flexibility and low build-up height together provide added ease of installation for unique or non-standard applications, without compromising on aesthetics or stability. Please note, however, that the clips on the Grad® mini rail are not removable.

Tip from our wood professionals

If you do not use decking risers when installing a deck with our QuickClip® profiles, we recommend gluing elastomer tape to the underside of the aluminium substructure. Especially on a base of stabilised sand or gravel, this allows you to limit the acoustic impact.

Suitable for raised decking

In addition to the pre-mounted clips, the aluminium substructures feature a side groove into which the adjustable decking risers click seamlessly. This is particularly handy on an uneven surface or when building a raised deck.

So if you need to build a raised timber deck, you can simply combine our QuickClip® decking boards in thermally modified wood with adjustable decking risers. To create a stable lengthwise connection between two consecutive aluminium substructures for decks, you can use the Top Link. This tool is also very easy to use and ensures the stability and durability of the timber deck. To attach the edge boards of the deck seamlessly, use the Top Cube as a fixing support.

Clips also available separately

In principle, the clips are pre-mounted on the aluminium substructure. However, the Grad® clips are also available separately for use when you wish to deviate from the standard position. This may be the case, for example, when finishing corners or around windows and doors. You can then determine the correct position yourself and easily attach the extra clip to the aluminium structure. This ensures a seamless and aesthetic result.
