How we build a Forestique home: from workshop to site

We build a Forestique home largely in our workshop in Tielt. On your plot, the crane lifts the walls and floors into place, and within a few weeks your home is weatherproof. These are the six steps, with images from the site.

1. Design and technical development

It all starts with your plot and the way you like to live. Together we choose the home type that suits you: Cyriel, Urbain, Modest or Lucien, along with the shape, the roof type and the options. Our technical department works that plan out into production drawings, down to the millimetre. We also map out the building services in advance, so there are no surprises on site.

2. Permit and preparation of your plot

A Forestique home is a fully fledged new build, so you apply for a planning permit together with your architect. While that is being processed, we prepare production. Once the permit is granted, the groundworks and foundations are carried out, in parallel with the production of your home in our workshop. Allow around a year for the entire process, from contract to handover.

3. Production in our workshop in Tielt

We make the walls, floors and roof elements of your home in our workshop, sheltered from wind and weather. Our CNC-controlled production line cuts every part to measure; the elements come fitted with their insulation and the service conduits for the building services, and in most walls the windows and doors are already installed before they leave the workshop. Every element is numbered and arrives on site ready to install.

4. Assembly with the crane

On site, the crane lifts the elements into place one by one, using lifting anchors that are already fitted during production. Thanks to our connections, the fitters can anchor a wall immediately after it is placed. In this way the structure of your home stands upright within a few days, with far fewer deliveries, dust and noise than on a conventional site.

5. Weatherproof in a few weeks

Because the windows are already set in the walls, your home is largely enclosed immediately after the walls and roof are assembled. Then comes the façade: we clip the timber cladding onto QuickClip® profiles, with no visible nails. After a few weeks your home is completely weatherproof and the interior work can begin dry and without waiting: timber-frame construction is a dry building method, so nothing needs to dry out.

6. Building services, finishing and handover

Heating, ventilation, plumbing and electricity find their place in the prepared service conduits. Then come floors, walls, kitchen and bathroom. At handover we go through everything together. And because your home is built modularly, you can add a module later: an extra bedroom, an office, a larger living space. That then follows exactly the same six steps.
