Carpentier supplies roof boards in a range of wood varieties: oak, poplar, douglas fir, larch and elm. Each profile is fitted with two- or four-sided tongue and groove joints, so installation runs smoothly and you can be sure of a neat end result. Oak roof boards are the most common choice, but depending on style and budget there are also more affordable yet equally attractive alternatives.
Roof boarding is the final layer of the roof structure, on which the roof covering rests. Besides its load-bearing function, it also plays a protective role against rain and wind. Thanks to the outstanding quality of the wood, our oak roof boards are perfectly suited to remain visible.
At Carpentier you will also find roof boards in other sustainable wood varieties such as poplar and douglas fir — more affordable alternatives that also deliver a beautiful result. Poplar roof boards, by the way, are very often combined with oak beams. By oiling poplar roof boards, you create a perfect match with the oak at a budget-friendly price.
With roof boards in European poplar, Carpentier offers a more budget-friendly alternative to oak. Poplar roof boards are produced in half-lap rebate (SB2 profile) in 20 x 190 mm (170 mm covering). We can oil them so that the colour matches oak beams perfectly. Brushed or coloured on request.
Douglas fir is one of the most durable wood varieties, with a unique, rustic colour and high durability. Our douglas fir roof boards are most commonly used for wooden outbuildings, patio covers and rural extensions. Our planed roof boards can also be used as cladding or for finishing a wooden fence or outdoor kitchen.
Larch has a warm golden-brown colour and lively grain that instantly give any roof boards real presence. The wood is highly durable, suitable for outdoor applications and weathers beautifully over time to a silvery grey. Larch has long been used for roof boards and shingles where weather resistance counts.
Elm roof boards are ideal for anyone seeking a characterful, rustic finish. The warm colour, pronounced flame grain and tough properties make elm a distinctive choice for visible roof boards. Despite its robust appearance, elm is lighter than oak — a smart choice for a strong look without the extra weight. At Carpentier, elm roof boards are available made to measure only.
