We are proud to announce that the timber construction project Switi in Amsterdam has won the National Timber Construction Award 2024 in the category of series-produced timber construction. The awards were presented on 12 November at Theater Orpheus in Apeldoorn during Houtdag 2024, a one-day conference on timber construction that drew considerable interest and where, as a sponsor, we were also able to present our extensive range of timber products.
The National Timber Construction Award aims to promote building with wood in the Netherlands. It is an initiative of Het Houtblad, an independent trade journal for the design and construction of timber buildings. An expert jury selects and nominates exceptional timber construction projects, while the public chooses its own favourite for the public award.
This year, the bio-based residential project Switi in Amsterdam Zuidoost received a nomination in the category of series-produced timber construction. As a proud partner, we supplied around 4000 m² of bamboo cladding, which contributes to the sustainable and natural appearance of this magnificent building, comprising 24 terraced houses and an impressive eight-storey residential tower with 45 apartments.
Switi symbolises the future of circular and bio-based construction with its innovative design and sustainable materials. This nomination recognises the project as one of this year's most inspiring examples of timber construction.
