During the renovation of the former Predikheren monastery in Mechelen, the roof truss was finished entirely with reclaimed oak beams and boards. These authentic materials give the new library a warm and rustic atmosphere, while preserving the historic character of the building. Large oak trusses support the structure and create an impressive sense of space. The roof window lets in natural light, allowing the texture and colour of the centuries-old wood to be shown off to their full advantage.
