Production process of timber-frame construction

Unlike the building process of a traditional home, the timber-frame construction process runs a great deal more smoothly. At Carpentier we support the construction of a timber-frame home or CLT home from A to Z, and we even offer offsite finishing.

1. Technical office

Starting from plans or sketches, our technical draughtsmen create a detailed calculation of your construction project, regardless of whether you opt for ready-made timber-frame elements or individual beams sawn to measure for you to work with yourself. We are also able to integrate the technical services through BIM. This saves time and energy in the design and calculation process, and prevents unexpected problems on site.

2. Automated production in our own workshop

Thanks to our extensive, state-of-the-art machinery, we can carry out production quickly and accurately. The preparation for the CNC machines connects seamlessly with our automated production line, allowing us to deliver flawless results with minimal lead time. All parts of the timber-frame construction are sawn to measure and prepared with the utmost precision and care into finished prefab elements.

3. Ready-to-assemble kit

We make our kits with simplicity and efficiency in mind. Each element, from timber-frame walls to roof elements and floor panels, is numbered and assembled to measure. If desired, we provide the prefab elements with service conduits, recesses for technical services, and window and door openings.

With each kit we supply detailed technical drawings and assembly instructions, so that the timber construction slots together like a puzzle on site. In parallel with the production of your kit, you can have the groundworks carried out and prepare the foundations.

To save precious time on site, Carpentier builds as much offsite as possible. In addition to the prefab structures, we offer numerous extra options that are already prepared in our workshop. We prefer to do this with biobased materials, such as wood-fibre insulation and QuickClip® timber cladding. In this way we ensure quick and efficient assembly.

4. Assembly on site

With our ready-to-assemble kits, you can quickly and efficiently create a timber home, home extension or roof extension. Our prefab elements are fitted with lifting anchors and, thanks to our innovative circular connections, anchoring can take place immediately after installation. This allows you to assemble the timber construction up to three times faster.

A kit from Carpentier enables you to set up a wind- and watertight timber-frame home within a few days. All walls, intermediate floors and the roof structure fit together neatly, regardless of whether you choose a classic timber frame or CLT. All you have to do is assemble.

5. Finishing timber-frame construction

Timber-frame construction is a dry building method, which means we can then install the timber cladding (if not yet pre-fitted in the kit), wall panelling and ceiling panelling. With our very high-quality QuickClip® profiles, this phase too can be completed very quickly. The aluminium joists are fitted with clips, onto which you simply click the timber boards. The fact that no nails are visible adds aesthetic value to the timber-frame home.
