We deliberately bring wood back to the heart of architecture. Not as a purely aesthetic choice, but as a structural conviction. We make it easy for architects and building professionals to build today what remains relevant tomorrow, with solutions that last for generations.

8 reasons why timber construction is the logical choice

Timber construction is no longer a niche, but a well-considered building method that unites aesthetics and performance. It offers a clear answer to today's challenges: it combines speed with precision, sustainability with comfort, and design freedom with budget control.

It is from that conviction that Carpentier resolutely chooses timber construction as the core of its expertise. As a specialised partner, we translate timber construction into innovative, buildable solutions and take the worry off building professionals throughout the entire process, from design to realisation.

Frequently asked questions about timber construction

  • What exactly does Carpentier supply to professionals?

We supply prefab timber-frame elements and complete timber building kits tailored to your project. From walls, floors and roofs to individual CNC-machined beams and stock products such as I-joists, LVL and glulam beams. You decide how far we go: just the sawn and machined timber, or fully finished elements ready for assembly. Discover our timber building kits.

  • Which projects can I bring to Carpentier?

New-build homes, roof extensions, home extensions, renovations and timber outbuildings, from a single garden room to a series of houses. We work for timber builders, joiners, roofers and general contractors. Smaller projects are welcome too: thanks to our automated production, every kit is cost-effective.

  • What is the lead time for a kit or prefab elements?

After approval of the production drawings, we usually deliver within a few weeks. The exact lead time depends on the size of the project and our planning at that moment. Because we produce in-house in a 15,000 m² hall, we can schedule flexibly and align delivery with your site planning.

  • How far are the prefab elements finished?

As far as you want: from open frame to wind- and watertight wall with insulation, boards, vapour barrier and even joinery. The more we finish in the workshop, the fewer operations on site and the faster the structure is up. We agree the level of finish together when preparing the quotation.

  • Which plans or files do I need to provide?

An architectural plan is enough to get started; we produce the production drawings. Our technical office develops the plan down to element level and submits the drawings for approval. If you already have a 3D or BIM model, we can work directly from it, which saves time.

  • Do you also take care of the structural study?

Yes, our engineers calculate the timber structure and supply the necessary structural notes. We coordinate this with the project's structural engineer so that foundations, connections and spans match. That way you can be sure the elements leaving our workshop match the calculations exactly.

  • Do you install the elements yourselves or do I?

Both are possible: you assemble with your own team, or you let our experienced assembly team erect the structure. Every kit comes with clear assembly plans and numbered elements. If you install yourself, we can support you on site on the first day if you wish.

  • How are the elements delivered to site?

The elements are loaded in assembly order and brought to site with our own transport. We agree in advance how the site can be accessed and whether a crane is available. The walls go straight from the truck to their position, with no time lost on intermediate storage.

  • How quickly do I get a quotation?

For a standard project you receive a detailed price calculation within a few working days. We calculate per element and per level of finish, so you know exactly what you can pass on to your client. For stock products you can request a price list directly.

  • Which timber species and certificates do you use?

We work with structural timber and panel materials with PEFC or FSC® certification from sustainably managed European forests. All structural parts are CE-marked and strength-graded. On request we supply the certificates and technical data sheets for your energy or sustainability file.

  • Can I also order individual beams and panels from you?

Yes, as a direct importer we keep I-joists, LVL and glulam beams and panel materials in stock. You can order them cut to length or CNC-machined, even without a complete kit. See our stock products for timber-frame construction.

  • How do you guarantee the quality of the elements?

Every wall is produced under controlled conditions on an automated line and checked before it leaves the workshop. Because the CNC machine preparation comes directly from the production drawings, dimensional errors are ruled out. That is why the elements fit together perfectly on site.

  • From which phase should I involve Carpentier in my project?

The earlier the better, ideally already in the design phase. Then we can think along about a smart build-up, feasible spans and an efficient division into elements. That saves time and budget later and prevents the design from having to be adapted afterwards.

  • Can I quickly make a design or estimate myself?

Yes, with our award-winning configurator you sketch a timber outbuilding in minutes and immediately get an indicative price. That way you can quickly make a proposal to your client before we develop the project in detail. For houses and larger projects we of course prepare a tailored quotation.

  • How do I start working with Carpentier?

Send us your plans or get in touch for an introductory meeting, possibly with a visit to our workshop. We look at your project, the desired level of finish and the planning together, and provide you with a detailed quotation. Contact us to start your project.
