Sylva™ LVL Rib Panels for floors and roofs

Sylva™ LVL Rib Panels are prefabricated floor and roof elements based on LVL, built up from a flat panel with structurally bonded ribs. This structural bonding between the components reduces the required construction height of the supporting structure while optimising the timber volume at the same time. In this way, Sylva™ makes longer spans possible and offers a clear advantage over rib panels that are assembled mechanically (with screws).

The benefits of Sylva™ LVL Rib Panels

  • Prefabricated, lightweight elements ensure a smooth workflow from delivery to installation and quick assembly on site.
  • Efficient use of timber: achieve more m² with less raw material, thanks to a clever rib build-up and optimised timber volume.
  • Large spans possible, from approximately 6 to 20 metres, which makes the LVL rib panels suitable for larger structures and spans where CLT timber panels are not enough.
  • Less need for beams and load-bearing walls gives more freedom in design and layout. Floors and roofs made from rib panels by Stora Enso also remain flexible and can later be adapted more easily to changing functions.
  • Insulation can be integrated into the structural build-up of the Sylva™ LVL Rib Panel.
  • Wood stores CO₂ and generally has a lower CO₂ impact than concrete, which contributes to a more sustainable, future-focused building solution.

When to choose a prefab LVL rib floor or rib roof?

A prefab LVL rib floor or rib roof is attractive when a timber construction project calls for large open spaces, a lightweight structure and an efficient build-up. Thanks to the rib structure, material is used precisely where load-bearing capacity is needed, while the element remains relatively light. This makes Sylva™ LVL Rib Panels suitable for projects in which span, weight, construction height and design freedom are decisive.

For architects, engineering firms and contractors, LVL rib panels thus offer a high-performance alternative or addition to traditional timber floor and roof elements. They combine the speed of prefab timber construction with the structural capacity required for larger residential, school and industrial projects.

Ready-to-install prefab elements

Sylva™ Rib Panels are delivered as ready-to-install prefab elements, ready for assembly on site. Thanks to their high dimensional accuracy, installation is quick and efficient. On request, insulation can already be integrated into the element, which saves additional time and contributes to acoustic performance.

Applications of Sylva™ Rib Panels

Sylva™ Rib Panels can be used as a prefab LVL rib floor or rib roof in a wide range of projects, from residential buildings to schools, offices and industrial applications. Open floor plans – flexible layouts with fewer load-bearing walls and columns – are becoming increasingly important across all of these segments.
With spans of more than 6 metres, Sylva™ Rib Panels support these design choices and create more freedom in spatial layout, without compromising on stability or performance.
