Durable oak decking boards
In the past timber decking was often made from prized tropical hardwood varieties. These days oak decking boards are increasingly seen as a more ecologically responsible and affordable choice for wood decking. Our oak decking boards are classified as durability class II and are therefore perfect for outdoor projects.
Carpentier uses oak from sustainably managed plantations, choosing only wood that is PEFC certified (FSC® also available). Many tropical hardwoods originating from African countries, Brazil and elsewhere are not PEFC certified. Moreover, oak has a responsibly small ecological footprint.
We dry oak decking boards to an equilibrium moisture content of ±18%. These rough decking boards are 33mm thick and available in a range of widths. They can be planed to your desired profile upon request.
Oak decking boards maintenance
Oak decking boards are golden-yellow when new and develop a beautiful grey patina over time. Even so, we advise customers to apply two layers of Aquatron immediately after installation. Aquatron repels dirt and ensures that water rolls off the surface of the wood, keeping it dry and better protected. As a result, weathering is even more beautiful and even.
